WHAT IS TAEKWONDO?
Olympic Taekwondo, also known as Taekwondo WT, is a Korean martial art and combat sport that places a strong emphasis on discipline.. For over 50 years, Taekwondo has been developed in line with Olympic principles and has become one of the most widely practiced martial arts in the world. While Taekwondo was originally created as a form of self-defense and military combat designed for effectiveness in battle, today it is primarily focused on human development through movement education. By teaching various movements and strikes, Taekwondo enhances an individual’s acrobatic skills, flexibility, speed, and strength—qualities that are beneficial in everyday life.

WHAT IS TAEKWONDO FOR CHILDREN?
Starting Taekwondo is an individual journey for everyone, but the ideal age to begin is considered to be between 5 and 7 years old. Through the philosophy of Taekwondo, children are first taught discipline and body awareness. A variety of playful exercises are used to help children understand how their bodies function and move. Through different movement drills and strike training, they first develop balance, flexibility, and motor skills. As they progress, speed and strength are introduced. Along with these physical skills, Taekwondo fosters lifelong qualities such as willpower, honesty, and a strong sense of justice.
WHO IS TAEKWONDO FOR, AND IS IT SAFE?
There are no specific criteria for starting Taekwondo. Training can begin from the age of 5, and both boys and girls in good health are welcome. While Taekwondo was traditionally seen as a sport dominated by boys, in the past 15 years, the gender ratio has become balanced at 50/50. In some training halls, the number of girls even surpasses that of boys. Although Taekwondo is often perceived as a dangerous sport, the reality is that injuries are extremely rare in our discipline. Practitioners are not only taught techniques but also how to prevent injuries and avoid causing harm to their training partners!
